Flying Fish Heart

The title "Heart of the Flying Fish" indicates that the works illustrate the image of experiencing being as a "beating heart" belonging to one who is able to swim deep into the sea and fly above its surface. The heartbeat of this mysterious creature has its own singular rhythm, which sounds in a particular way, creating an inimitable pattern in the form of ornament, as though covering the "body of the heart" with it. A fantasized translation of the flying fish's acoustic dimension — as if it were a sound, and that sound originated "from the heart itself" — into a drawing made it possible to capture the complex imaginary constructions created in the process of the sound wave's "unfolding."
The metaphorical image of the "heart" moves along a trajectory set by its own melody, creating various knots and entanglements and forming a shape that strives toward ornamental expression.
